Cow that closed a Georgia highway has arrived in Wantage

Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Wantage has a new resident. LEOna is a 1 year old cow rescued by police in Savannah, Georgia after she wandering on to Interstate 16 last January. The highway was closed as police coaxed the young cow into a trailer and brought her to their horse stables. She had been wandering in the area for over a month. The owners of LEOna never came forward to claim her. Many animal rescue organizations offered to adopt her. The Savannah Police Department eventually made the decision to allow LEOna to come to the Skylands Animal Sanctuary in Wantage. The police department Facebook post described Skylands as "A little cow heaven."
