New Jersey Amtrak repairman accused of stealing 77 chain saws

Jose Rodriguez has worked for Amtrak in North Brunswick since 2007. His jobs included senior engineer and repairman. Now he is facing up to 20 years in prison for stealing and selling thousands of dollars worth of equipment from the railroad. This week a federal criminal complaint accused Rodriguez of stealing 77 chainsaws, 103 chain saw replacement bars and 163 replacement chains to buyers in 7 states. The government alleges Rodriguez made more than $50,000 selling the equipment through an online auction and directly to the public. He has been charged with stealing government property and stealing from an agency receiving federal funds. Rodriquez is 51 years old and lives in Brick Township.
