The Colonial Gas Pipeline stretches more than 5,000 miles from Houston, Texas to Linden, New Jersey. Along the way it supplies more than 45 percent of the gasoline for dozens of states. This past weekend Colonial had to shut down their pipeline because of a cyber attack. Parts of several states including Florida, North Carolina and Georgia are reporting more than half of gas stations have run dry. There are long lines for gas reminiscent of the 1970's in other parts of the south. Here in New Jersey Governor Murphy says there is no gas supply problem in New Jersey "as we speak." He said New Jersey residents should not start to "panic buy" gasoline. The Colonial Pipeline reopened yesterday according to a story in the New York Times. The company says there may be "intermittent service interruptions during the start up period." I guess pipelines that supply our gasoline are still a pretty important part of our infrastructure.
