They may only emerge every 17 years but cicadas are still creatures of habit. The one New Jersey town that seems to be our "cicada capitol" is Princeton. Residents of the historic town say cicadas are everywhere. You can hear them. They're landing on people and getting smashed by car windshields. Bug experts say cicadas have a long history of staying around the same places for hundreds of years. They don't fly very far and stay close to trees after they mate. Since the 18 hundreds Princeton has been over whelmed every 17 years. Experts say it's because the historic town has so many old trees and preserved wooded areas. The good news for Princeton residents is all of the cicadas should be back in the ground by Labor Day.
