Six communities are suing Vernon over snow removal expenses

State law says municipalities have to reimburse private communities for numerous services including snow removal. A lawsuit recently filed in Sussex County Superior Court alleges Vernon Township has not been paying enough to cover the snow removal expenses of six private communities. The township could wind up paying those communities $100's of thousands of dollars in back payments. The communities say the payment delays and under funding have been happening since 2008. The six communities are: Highland Lakes, Hidden Valley, Lake Glenwood, Lake Wallkill, Barry Lakes and Lake Panorama.
