Hamburg man gets 8 years for stabbing at Gingerbread Castle

Steve Rogers of Hamburg will spend at least 6 and a half years in prison after receiving an 8 year sentence in Sussex County Superior Court yesterday. The 21 year old admitted he stabbed a 14 year old boy after meeting him at Gingerbread Castle. The pre-sentencing report said Rogers was hit in the head with a skateboard before he stabbed the 14 year old. He believed he was protecting his girlfriend. She was at Gingerbread Castle when the stabbing took place in December. Reports from the Hamburg Police indicate Roger's girlfriend was also involved romantically with the 14 year old. The boy was stabbed in numerous places by Rogers including his head, chest, arm pit and hand. Rogers was charged with attempted murder after the attack. He eventually plead guilty to the lesser charge of aggravated assault yesterday.
