We thought we'd take the time to highlight an animal that wouldn't do well at the station but really needs the limelight - Shelly.
This gorgeous pup may look like a dingo, but we believe she's a pit bull terrier. A little over 4 years old, she originally came to us in November 2020, was adopted January 2021 but brought back April 2021 and has been here since. The reason she was returned is because she never bonded with the father of the family - even though the teenage daughters painted her toenails! Yes, she came back to us with sparkly red nails! But Shelly is shy around men - it would probably take 2 or 3 visits from Steve before she became confident around him. But there are some men she's incredibly bonded to - like Garret. Overall, she does prefer women and warms up to them a lot faster.
She also has a high prey drive so she wouldn't do well around smaller animals in a home. However she is very smart and loyal to her favorite people, and will be our next great success story once she finds her forever home!
