Plastic shopping baskets are disappearing from New Jersey supermarkets

About three months ago New Jersey banned stores from giving out single use plastic shopping bags. While many customers have adjusted to the idea of purchasing or bringing reusable bags. Quite a few people are resorting to something else. They're walking out with the small plastic hand held shopping baskets provided by stores. The baskets cost about $8 each. Pretty soon you might not be able to find them at all. A spokesperson for the New Jersey Food Council a group that represents the state's supermarkets told NJ.COM "These baskets are expensive and some stores have decided not to replace the baskets."
