Talk about an Epic Wet And Wild Weekend! Rock, Ribs And Ridges at The Sussex County Fairgrounds is always such a fun time. No matter the weather, it's always so much fun to have a great time seeing friends. Our sister station 103.7 NNJ morning guy Borasio came up with a great idea to let listeners win the chance to be his shadow as he emceed the event. These winning listeners got to go on stage with him! Too cool. I did a Facebook Live video on the stage with them and it was fun.
The weather forecast for the weekend wasn't too advantageous, calling for chances of thunderstorms and heavy rain at times all throughout the weekend.
One of my favorite parts from Friday night was getting to be on stage near Artemis Pyle's drum set. When you see that it was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2006, you feel the history and get chills.
Friday night despite the heavy downpours I was able to stay dry. Success.
As I'm writing this I'm realizing the overriding theme to my Epic Weekend In Pictures was trying to stay dry and dodge the rain at Rock Ribs & Ridges at The Fairgrounds.
Saturday I went back to The Fairgrounds and the weather was beautiful. Many folks were joking about how weather people are always wrong. I didn't have the heart to tell them that the forecast was still calling for intense thunderstorms, and being a diehard sports fan I also fully believe that jinxes are real!
As we awaited 38 Special the headliner to jump on stage, the clouds went from gray to black. In the span of an hour, it went from blue partly cloudy skies to watching the massive clouds approach getting darker and darker. We were under the VIP tent so that helped us stay dry. The tents were very high in demand, that's for sure. The Rock Ribs & Ridges folks even took out folding chairs for us so the tents behind could see. They clearly weren't feeling the rain drops starting and the clouds getting darker lol. Once the skies opened up, we went back under the tent. The rain eventually slowed down / stopped during the later part of 38 Special's set.
Of course, once I started to leave, the rain started. Heavy. Very heavy. I was wearing my iHeartMedia windbreaker with a hood. It was definitely worth it to carry that around when it was sunny and hot out earlier in the day. By the time I walked across the soggy Fairgrounds, the only dry thing was my t shirt underneath my iHeartMedia coat.
Sunday was more mild. I did some food shopping at ShopRite in Warwick, crossing over the NY border just to switch things up a bit. I then did a drink at Minerals Moonshine Tiki Bar, only to get trapped under there with more rainstorms again. Ah well, at least we had fun and didn't have to go anywhere.
It ended up being an early night in for me watching Bar Rescue reruns, then Friends reruns.
Overall it was a fun weekend. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Epic Weekend In Pictures. Next weekend, I'm shipping up to Boston for my Grammy's 90th birthday and cannot wait! I'm so psyched to see my family.
Next weekend's going to be different with the 4th happening on a Tuesday. I'll try to post updates on here later next week for sure. Thank you!
