An Atlantic City police detective, Fariyd Holmes, has been suspended without pay following a reckless driving incident. The suspension is effective immediately and will continue pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s office.

The incident in question occurred last month when Holmes reportedly ran a red light in his Lexus. His actions were witnessed by another officer, who then attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, Holmes allegedly fled the scene, nearly colliding with a patrol car in the process.

Holmes has since disputed the allegations, claiming that it was his niece who was driving the car at the time of the incident. The detective’s claim is currently under investigation as part of the broader inquiry into his conduct.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s office has not released further details about the case at this time. However, they have confirmed that Holmes’ next court appearance is scheduled for November 9th.
