The Garden State is preparing for the coldest air of the season so far, with temperatures expected to plummet into the mid-20s across northwest New Jersey, triggering the season’s first frost warning. Central parts of the state are not far behind, with temperatures predicted to drop to the upper 20s.
The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning, which is typically announced during the growing season when surface temperatures are expected to fall below freezing over a large area for an extended period. This warning is issued when nighttime low temperatures across the county or forecast zone are predicted to be at or below 32 degrees.
Meanwhile, southern New Jersey is also bracing for chilly weather, with temperatures expected to drop to the upper 30s. This has triggered a Frost Advisory, which is issued when the minimum temperature is forecast to be between 33 and 36 degrees during the growing season.
Despite these chilly forecasts, residents can look forward to a dry weekend - a welcome change after eight consecutive weekends of rain. This would mark the first precipitation-free weekend in more than two months.
