Union employees of Atlantic City Electric have initiated a strike following unsuccessful negotiations for a new contract with the utility company. The strike began just after midnight on Saturday.

The union involved in the dispute, IBEW Local 210, represents nearly 400 employees at Atlantic City Electric. The workers decided to strike after deeming the company’s final contract offer as unacceptable. The specifics of the disagreement have not been disclosed, but the decision to strike indicates a substantial divergence between the expectations of the union and the offerings of Atlantic City Electric.

Despite the strike, Atlantic City Electric officials have assured customers that their service will not be disrupted. The company has stated that they are fully prepared for the work stoppage and have implemented contingency plans to ensure the continuity of service.

Atlantic City Electric has expressed disappointment over the failure to reach an agreement, stating that they presented their best and final offer to the union. The company remains hopeful for a resolution that will be mutually beneficial and lead to the end of the strike.
