New Jersey Congressman Jeff Van Drew has called for a federal takeover of the Atlantic City Housing Authority (ACHA). The congressman expressed deep concern over the safety and well-being of the residents living in the ACHA properties.

Van Drew highlighted that the residents have been living without essential amenities such as heat and hot water. With winter fast approaching, the congressman stressed the urgency of the situation and the need for immediate action.

“The residents of ACHA are facing a dire situation. It’s unacceptable that they have to live without heat and hot water, especially with winter just around the corner,” said Van Drew. “It’s high time that the federal government steps in and takes over the operations of ACHA.”

The congressman also criticized the leadership of ACHA, stating that there is a “total lack of leadership” at the housing authority. He accused the ACHA of failing to fulfill its responsibilities towards the residents.

“They’re not doing their job,” Van Drew said of the ACHA leadership. “The residents deserve better. They deserve a leadership that cares about their well-being and ensures that they have access to basic amenities.”
