Manischewitz has issued a recall for its Dark Chocolate Coins distributed to New Jersey due to the potential presence of undeclared milk. The product was widely distributed from September 26th to November 28th, 2023 to the Garden State as well as New York and Connecticut.
The recall was initiated after the company’s Quantity Control Department discovered that a limited number of bags labeled as “Dark Chocolate Coins” actually contained Milk Chocolate Coins. These milk chocolate coins contain milk, an allergen not declared on the label. Consumers with a milk allergy or severe sensitivity are at risk of a serious or even life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product. The affected packages bear the lot code 2283.
The company has received no reports of illness or injury to date. However, they have taken action by notifying retailers who had purchased this lot code about the recall and instructing them to inspect their inventory and remove any potentially affected product from their shelves.
