Supermarket chain Stop & Shop has issued a voluntary recall of several prepared chicken products sold at more than a dozen of its stores across New Jersey. The recall applies to five varieties of breaded chicken chunks, including plain, with buffalo sauce cup, with BBQ sauce cup, with sweet chili sauce cup, and with honey mustard sauce cup.

The company announced that the chicken products might be undercooked, posing potential health risks to consumers. Under-cooked chicken can lead to foodborne illnesses, as it may contain harmful bacteria like Salmonella or Campylobacter.

The affected products were distributed and sold at 18 Stop & Shop locations throughout the following New Jersey towns: Butler, Carlstadt, Clifton, Closter, Dumont, Emerson, Franklin Lakes, Hackensack, Lyndhurst, Pompton Plains, Ridgewood, Ringwood, Sparta, Teaneck, Tenafly, Wanaque, Wayne, and Wyckoff.

These items were sold between February 2 and February 12, 2024. Customers who have purchased these products are urged to discard them immediately or return them to the store for a full refund.

Stop & Shop is actively cooperating with relevant authorities to ensure the recall process is carried out successfully and to prevent further distribution of the potentially undercooked chicken products. The safety and well-being of their customers remain a top priority for the company. The supermarket chain has emphasized that this recall does not affect any other chicken products sold in their stores.
