New Jersey sportsbooks have reported record wagering activity for Super Bowl LVIII last Sunday. The match between the Chiefs and the 49ers attracted significant betting action across the Garden State.

According to the preliminary data announced by Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, approximately $141.6 million was wagered on this year's Super Bowl. The projected total sports wagering payout is estimated at $133.1 million, resulting in a win of nearly $8.5 million for the sports wagering books.

This year's wagering activity reflects a 30% increase over the betting volume from the 2023 Super Bowl, which totaled $109.3 million. The jump in betting action can be attributed to the intense competition and high stakes of the Super Bowl LVIII, which set a TV ratings record with 123.7 million viewers.

The reported revenue figures include bets placed at New Jersey’s 12 retail sportsbooks and through 18 sports wagering mobile applications. The surge in mobile betting reflects the growing popularity of digital platforms among sports bettors, offering convenience and ease of access.

While the final wagering data will be released later, the preliminary figures suggest that Super Bowl LVIII was a major success for the sports betting industry in New Jersey. The event brought in record-breaking betting action, contributing to the state's economy and showcasing the potential of regulated sports wagering.
