The Newton Police Department responded to a lockdown at Newton Medical Center on Friday following reports of an armed individual on the premises. The hospital implemented immediate safety measures to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
Assisted by several other law enforcement agencies, the Newton Police Department located the individual and determined there was no threat to public safety. Following the investigation, the lockdown was lifted and normal operations at the medical center resumed.
In a press release issued later that day, the Newton Police Department expressed gratitude to the community for their cooperation and vigilance during the incident. They also commended the staff at Newton Medical Center for their quick and efficient response, and expressed appreciation to the mutual aid agencies for their invaluable assistance.
