The Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority (SCMUA) is hosting a household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, June 1. The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the solid waste facility located at 34 Route 94, Lafayette.

The collection is free for county residents, but schools, towns, and businesses are not eligible to participate. The limit for each household is 100 pounds of dry waste or 10 gallons of liquid waste. The event will proceed regardless of weather conditions, and no prior registration is required.

Residents can dispose of items such as lead and oil-based paints, stains, thinners, pool chemicals, mercury, lubricants, chlorine, driveway sealer, fluorescent bulbs, and household batteries. Any quantities exceeding the set limits will incur scale charges.

For more information, residents can call (973) 579-6998 or visit scmua.org.
