Body Of Missing Man Pulled From Lake Hopatcong

The body of 79-year-old William Ryan, who went missing in Lake Hopatcong was recovered on Monday (June 24). Ryan was reported missing on Saturday (June 22) after he was seen entering the lake and not returning.

A search operation was launched by the Roxbury Township Police Department, Morris County Sheriff’s Office ESU, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, and New Jersey State Police Marine Unit. The search was suspended overnight due to poor water conditions and visibility, and resumed the following day.

Ryan's body was eventually found in the southern tip of the lake. The search efforts included the deployment of a submersible, divers, sonar, and aviation. At this time, the circumstances surrounding Ryan's death are not considered suspicious.
