The body of 18-year-old Eshan Aman Ullah, who went missing while swimming in the Clinton Reservoir in West Milford, New Jersey, has been recovered. Ullah, a resident of Randolph, was swimming with a group of friends towards a small island in the reservoir when he disappeared on Tuesday evening.
The search for Ullah was suspended due to darkness and resumed on Wednesday. His body was found by New Jersey State Police TEAMS divers around noon. The search operation involved multiple local and state agencies, including the West Milford Police Department Special Operations Unit, Passaic County Sheriff’s Department, and the NJSP Marine Unit.
Despite the area being marked with 'No Swimming' signs and warnings to stay off the property, it is a popular spot for young people to swim and gather. The Newark Watershed does patrol the area, but their patrols usually stop in the afternoon, which is when kids tend to go there.
West Milford Mayor Michele Dale and the West Milford Police Department have extended their sympathies to Ullah's family and friends and have requested that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.
