New Jersey Honors Late Congressman Bill Pascrell with Flags at Half-Staff

Flags are flying at half-staff across New Jersey in honor of the late Congressman Bill Pascrell, who passed away on August 21, 2024, at the age of 87. Governor Phil Murphy issued an executive order on Monday (August 26) to honor the 14-term Democrat, who he described as a "champion for New Jersey's most vulnerable residents."NorthJersey.com reported.

Born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, Pascrell served his community in various capacities throughout his life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, an educator, a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, and the Mayor of Paterson before being elected to Congress in 1996. InsiderNJ reported.

Pascrell is survived by his wife, Elsie; children, Bill, David, and Glenn; as well as six grandchildren. A visitation will be held today from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson. A funeral mass will be celebrated at the same location tomorrow at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa. TapInto Paterson reported.
