Sussex County YMCA to Launch Indoor Pickleball Center in November

Outdoor Pickleball on the court line

The Sussex County YMCA is set to open a new indoor pickleball center in November. The center, located at 11 Millpond Road in Lafayette, will feature six courts equipped with professional PickleRoll flooring. The facility will be open year-round, offering heating and air conditioning for player comfort. The center will cater to players aged 18 and older, with presales beginning in early October. Members will have priority during peak times.

Pickleball, a sport that combines elements of table tennis, badminton, and tennis, has seen a surge in popularity in recent years. According to a report by the Association of Pickleball Professionals, an estimated 36.5 million Americans played the sport at least once in 2022. The new center is a response to this growing demand.

Corey Brown, the Executive Director of the Sussex County YMCA, said in a statement, "As the popularity and demand for pickleball grows, we are excited to offer a dedicated space where people can come together, stay active, and have fun." Pickleball Innovators reported.

The center will also offer a variety of programs and will use the Pickleball Den app to allow players to reserve court time up to 15 days in advance. Membership options will be available for both YMCA members and the broader community.
