The Sussex County Board of County Commissioners, Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Senior Services, and the Sussex County Veterans Committee are inviting 6th to 8th graders to participate in an essay contest honoring military veterans. The contest is part of the annual Salute to Military Veterans parade, which will be held at the Sussex County Fairgrounds on November 3.

The essay contest encourages students to write a 200-word essay on the topic "Why Are We Saluting Sussex County Military Veterans?" The contest aims to foster an understanding and appreciation of the contributions and sacrifices made by veterans. Entries from students who are homeschooled will also be accepted.

The winners of the contest, one boy and one girl, will have the opportunity to read their essays at the event. Each winner will also receive a $200 prize. The deadline for entries is October 4.

For more information about the contest, interested parties can contact the Sussex County Division of Senior Services at 973-579-0555, ext. 1226 or email seniorservices@sussex.nj.us.
