A water main break at the intersection of Route 517 and Valleyfield Road in Andover Township in Sussex County is causing disruptions to the Lake Lenape Water System. The Andover Township Office of Emergency Management has warned residents of the area to expect little to no water pressure as a result of the break. A contractor for the water department is currently on site and will begin making repairs to restore the water supply.
The township has requested that residents refrain from calling the police for updates and instead contact the Lake Lenape Water Company for any immediate requests for updates.
The Lake Lenape Water System serves some 600 residents. Back in 2019, a proposed rate change spurred debate between the water system and Andover Township; resulting in the township approving a resolution objecting to the rate increases; also calling out the "continued lack of maintenance" of the water system.
