An Alberta Clipper, a fast-moving low-pressure system originating from Canada, is set to bring snow and gusty winds to much of New Jersey tonight and into tomorrow. While northeastern areas and the Jersey Shore are likely to avoid any wintry precipitation, parts of North Jersey may see a light dusting of snow. Higher elevated areas like western Passaic and Sussex Counties could receive up to two inches of snow. A mix of snow and rain is expected in areas further south.

The Alberta Clipper is also expected to bring wind gusts of up to 55 miles-per-hour, bringing colder than normal air down from Canada. This weather event is known for its speed and its potential to bring snow to a large area. According to Yahoo News, the Clipper is set to begin on Wednesday when it tracks down into North Dakota before moving across the Great Lakes and into the Northeast by Thursday.

The forecast details will become clearer as the event gets closer on Wednesday, but the system is expected to drop snow from the Dakotas to New England. How far south the snow reaches depends on the temperatures in the Northeast. As usual, New York City is right on the edge of the forecast where they could see rain or snow.
