Pike County residents are reminded that all dogs must be licensed by tomorrow (January 1). The county is now offering 2025 dog licenses, which can be obtained from the Pike County Treasurer’s Office located at 506 Broad Street in Milford. Licenses are available both in person and online through the Treasurer's Office page on the county website.

The cost for an annual dog license is $8.70, while a lifetime license is priced at $52.70. Discounts are available for older adults and people with disabilities. According to Pennsylvania law, all dogs must be licensed at the point of purchase or adoption, or by three months of age if no transfer of ownership has occurred. Failing to secure a license can result in a fine of up to $500.

The small fee collected from dog licenses helps fund the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement, which works to protect dogs, their owners, and the community. Licensing also aids in reuniting lost dogs with their owners. For more information, residents can contact the Pike County Treasurer’s Office or visit their website.
