According to NBC New York, those celebrating in Times Square should be ready for steady to heavy showers, as umbrellas are not allowed. The rain is expected to continue through midnight and into the early hours of New Year's Day.
The Yahoo Weather report highlights that the heaviest rain is forecasted from 10 PM Tuesday to 4 AM Wednesday. After the holiday, a significant temperature drop is expected, with highs falling to 36°F by Thursday and further dropping to 30°F by Saturday. Nighttime lows will reach the low 20s, with temperatures as low as 18°F by Saturday night.
As the new year begins, winds will increase, with gusts up to 35 mph, and a slight chance of showers early on New Year's Day. The Tri-State area will experience a prolonged chill starting Thursday, with wind chills potentially in the teens and 20s for several days. Residents are advised to bundle up and prepare for the cold weather ahead.
