My Epic Weekend In Pictures: Still Had Some Fun Despite Snow

Going into a weekend with nearly a foot of snow in our forecast, that always gives me a mix of emotions. I'm always happy for how it will help the skiing and snowboarding conditions at Mountain Creek, that I can enjoy watching from my deck. I don't like the everyday inconveniences we get from snow. While it can be pretty, I've always joked that those who love snow the most are inconvenienced by it the least. I tried to plan my weekend around it, knowing this meant some friends wouldn't be able to see me and vice versa. We'll start my Epic Weekend In Pictures with Thursday night, which is always fun happening just a few hours after Pet Of The Week. I was able to run over to The Irish Cottage Inn in Franklin real quick and meet up with besties Artie, Paul and George. Then after I sit down and look over to the table right beside us. I walked right past the table near us without even noticing my dear friends Jill and Parker Space. This was my first time seeing Parker after his exciting New Year's holiday that resulted in him being accidentally bitten by one of their rattlesnakes. It was great seeing him almost back to normal after those multiple hospital stays. He said "Steve, I've been playing with snakes since 12 years old. I'm in my 50s, that's the first time this has ever happened. I had a pretty good run." I'll leave playing with snakes to Parker, Hunter Space, and Steve Andrews. I'm all set with that. I'll just keep playing with their bears and buffalo animals. Even after that exciting New Year's Day accident, Parker still loves his snakes so much. It's admirable, even though I'll continue to keep my distance from snakes!

After a fun, quick time catching up with them on was on my way to the monthly Minerals Sports Club Member Mixer Social. I had fun meeting up with besties Jasen, Brendan, and Brad among others. Their new theme idea for Country Line Dancing I absolutely love! We had a great turnout despite it being a cold, January night. Every table had at least a few smiling people at them. They're apparently aligning this with their new Country Line Dancing classes at Minerals Sports Club. I might need to try my hand at that one of these days, even though I have absolutely no rhythm whatsoever. I remember some nearly 15 years ago when we were doing a Ball style dance party on a cruise in Boston at my radio station. My morning girl caught me in two embarrassing moments. First I offered her and my morning guy Jim a round of drinks. Margery asked for me to order her a Cosmo. I asked her how she wanted it. Whoops! In my younger age, I clearly didn't know much about Cosmos. My morning girl Margery then asked me to dance with her. I warned her all week that I'm a terrible dancer. Within 2 minutes she said "oh my god Steve Allan, you really are a terrible dancer I'm sorry! You're really good at running radio stations as our boss, but absolutely terrible at dancing!" Well, I never lie! I warned her!

Friday my coworkers invited me out to join them for a fun, Team building happy hour. We met up for a round of drinks at Crystal Springs Crystal Tavern. It was great hanging with work wife Shawn, besties Steve and Mia. It was fun to teach Mia more and more about the crazy radio world we live in everyday. Between the years of experience between me and Shawn, it's safe to say we have our share of funny radio stories and memories.

Friday night I then went to see besties Jasen and Brendan before they went off on vacation. Nice, chill night while they were packing and I was hanging out. We liked watching that Severance show together. It's a little more sci-fi than I prefer, but this show is fascinating. I just started recently watching it with Jasen and Brendan. Then the more I learned about it, how so much of this show they filmed in Jersey, and that it's directed/produced by Ben Stiller? I need to keep giving this show people love more chances. I also thought it was a brilliant PR marketing stunt for them to basically do a pop up show for all to watch right in the middle of Grand Central! I've only seen this show a few times, yet from last week on it kept showing up in my social media feeds constantly! Friday night as we're having a nice, low key quiet night, all of a sudden one of their cats surprised me. I've known their cat Ally since she was a kitten 5 years ago. Their new cat Cheeto they've had for probably a year or so and he's really cute, sweet, but shy with people. All of the sudden, we made eye contact at the same time, and Cheeto jumped right up on the couch to cuddle with his Uncle Steve. It was awesome. Maybe he's coming out of his shell like we see sometimes with my Pets Of The Week?

The rest of the weekend I was enjoying NFL Playoffs. With the weather being so cold, it was perfect. Especially once they upped our snow forecast to nearly a foot, that made those decisions easy. I had plenty of fun watching the earlier games out with besties at The Cottage, then the later games at home. Sunday I timed my drive home poorly, it ended up taking me 30 minutes to get home through the snowstorm instead of 10-15 minutes. All good. I was very happy and relaxed once I did make it home!

At least Sunday early afternoon I was able to catch up with my bestie Jennifer, who I hadn't seen in far too long. It was great hanging and catching each other up on all the craziness in both of our worlds.

Overall it was as strong a weekend possible, considering we got snow that was right in the middle of everything. Time to start planning next weekend!
