ParkMobile users in New Jersey have until Wednesday (March 5) to file claims as part of a $32.8 million settlement following a 2021 data breach. The breach exposed the personal information of over 20 million customers nationwide. Those who received a settlement notice must submit a claim to receive a cash payment, with a maximum payout of $25 per person.

The data breach involved unauthorized access to users' email addresses, phone numbers, license plate numbers, and hashed passwords. ParkMobile agreed to the settlement to focus on enhancing customer data protection, though it did not admit any wrongdoing. The company has also committed $2.5 million to improve security measures.

According to NJ Advance Media, those who do not claim the cash payment will automatically receive a $1 credit for use within the ParkMobile app. The credit will be valid for one year. Claim forms can be submitted online or by mail, but they must be postmarked by March 5.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for March 13, 2025, which will determine the final disbursements and any further actions required by ParkMobile. For more information, users can visit the settlement website or contact the settlement administrators via phone or email.
