Some big retail stores are starting to charge a fee for returning gifts

Taking back unwanted gifts as returns costs retailers a fortune. Sometimes those "gifts" can't be resold. Free returns was once seen as a way to encourage shoppers to buy. Now many stores are seeing things differently. This year Yahoo Shopping is reporting these major retail stores will start charging fees to return unwanted gifts. Each store has different policies. Some stores will not charge a fee to rewards members or if you drop off your "return" in person. Here3are some stores in our area and what they plan to charge:

Macy's $9.99

Best Buy $45.00

Marshall's $11.99

T.J Maxx $11.99

JC Penny $8.00

If you're not sure the gift you want to give someone is one they want to keep. Just give them a gift card.
