The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Tri-State area, effective from Friday (December 26) at 1 PM to Saturday (December 27) at 10 AM EST. The storm is expected to bring heavy snow, with accumulations between five and eight inches in Sussex County and four to six inches in Warren County and Monroe County.

According to NJ.com, the storm could cause significant travel disruptions, particularly affecting the Friday evening commute. The heaviest snowfall is expected on Friday night, with snow tapering off by Saturday morning. Areas along the Delaware River may experience a dangerous coating of ice due to a wintry mix.

The storm will impact various counties, including Hunterdon, Mercer, and Sussex, with snow accumulations possibly reaching up to eight inches. The National Weather Service warns that travel could be very difficult, and residents are advised to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in their vehicles in case of emergencies.

As reported by NJ.com, temperatures are expected to rise into the 40s as the storm progresses, with precipitation tapering off by early Saturday. However, another system may bring additional rain over the weekend.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about road conditions and exercise caution while traveling.
