My Epic Weekend In Pictures

This weekend I tried to take in as much nice spring weather as possible, while enjoying time with friends. Thursday night I had fun with besties Shawn and Laura at Industry Kitchen & Bar in Sparta. It was National Whiskey Day, perfect excuse for me to enjoy a Smoke & Embers drink. We had a great time. I went home and was excited to watch March Madness college basketball. I never fill out a bracket going into these tournaments, and the reason is I like to have fun watching the games. Whenever I watch sports, which is pretty often, I always have some sort of vested interest. If it's the major pro sports, I'm cheering for one of my Boston sports teams. With college basketball, I actually enjoy changing it up and not having a vested interest. I love having the freedom to root for whoever I feel like cheering on to win. Quite often I'll root for simply who has the better story or cinderella story. I got home and was so excited to sit on my couch, with my feet up, relax and watch March Madness college basketball. I put on CBS, and the game wasn't exciting at all. One team was beating the other by 14 points, they kept scoring back and forth so the point difference never changed nor got closer. I then thought to myself "wait, it's March Madness! There will be more than one game happening at the same time." I switched over to TBS to watch whatever other game was happening at that same time. That was a waste. This game had one team beating the other by 20 points, even worse than the other game! I put the TV guide channel back on, and then stumbled onto watching one of my favorite all time movies, The Departed. Even I had to laugh at myself. I was so excited to simply watch college basketball, then ended up watching The Departed like I would do any other random night. Go figure.

Friday morning while at work I was texting back and forth with my bestie Jennifer. I told her about my impromptu plan to hit up Jimmy Geez for my Friday night. She then texted back that she could make it. Success! I got to Jimmy Geez just after 5:30. Bestie Jennifer told me her Waze was predicting her ETA to be 6pm, which given how tough traffic is these days as a result from the sinkholes, I wasn't expecting any accuracy at all. She ended up arriving by 6:10-6:15. I was fine drinking water waiting for her. A gentleman sitting right beside her chair immediately said "oh good, we were assuming that this guy was getting stood up!" LOL. Isn't it funny how people can watch you without you even noticing?

I had a great time with bestie Jennifer catching up. I then went over to see Jasen and Brendan, and the new kittens. I got there, sat down on the couch, and didn't even notice them across the living room from me. All 3 kitties were just chilling on the couch together and it was so adorable! I had a great time catching up with my bros Jasen and Brendan. I then ventured back home to watch March Madness college basketball, and it was another blowout. Apparently Florida was in a good, tight game, which I apparently got home right after it ended. I just had no luck watching March Madness games this year. All good.

Saturday morning I met up with besties for breakfast. The company was terrific of Artie, Margie, Roy, George, Mayor Paul Crowley, and Kathy.

Saturday I knew my plans would have to bring me outside. When it's springtime and nearly 70 degrees outside, you have to find something outdoors, right? I knew that with it being the first nice spring Saturday, everyone and their brothers would be going to either Lake Hopatcong or Lake Mohawk. I dodged those hotspots like the plague.

Instead of finding water, I pivoted and met up with bestie Carrie at Industry Kitchen & Bar in Sparta. I knew they have their 7,000 square feet outdoor patio right on 15. I knew they'd be ready with it open. I ended up with a great spot at the bar, and since they had the massive windows open, I didn't have to even go outside anyway. Carrie and I had so much fun. Saturday night I was able to meet up with my friend Brooks, and that was nice too.

Sunday I was able to get some errands done after going to Granny's Pancake Diner in Hamburg. It was definitely a much better bacon and scrambled eggs than my Saturday morning breakfast.

Then after a little bit of a nap, I ventured out to The Irish Cottage Inn in Franklin for Music Bingo. This was hilarious. I'll admit to being totally guilty of not being able to turn my radio brain off at all during this. Within the first 5 seconds of most songs, I usually can name the artist and song title. With apps like Shazam being so popular, of course I'm very skilled at something that I can't make money off of at all. Then, sometimes they'll play random songs during Music Bingo that even I don't know, which infuriates me. I warned everyone at our table that I'm miserable and obnoxious during Music Bingo, because if they play a song that even I don't know, they're doing somethings very wrong! I'm a Program Director for 9 of our iHeartRadio stations. If you're playing a song that even I don't know? You might need better systems, sorry!

I then ended up winning the second game. I try to not win, because I don't want people to think that it's rigged or I cheated. Fortunately nobody suspected any hijinks from me. We will take that win for sure.

I then wrapped up my Sunday by watching a Bar Rescue marathon. Overall I had some fun this weekend. Time to start planning next weekend when I'll be Shipping Up To Boston.
