My Epic Weekend In Pictures: Jack O Fun!

This weekend involved some beautiful sights I had never seen before, and delicious food for football Sunday! We'll start our Weekend off with Guest Appreciation Hour at Industry Kitchen & Bar in Sparta. Girlfriend Brooks and I were able to meet up with besties Shawn and Michelle. We shared many fun laughs together, as I enjoyed a tasty Old Fashioned drink. It's always fun running into friends at Industry both fellow diners and employees as well. We then ventured up to Skylands Stadium for their Jack O'Lantern Festival Experience. This was my first time ever going to the Jack O'Lantern Experience, and I'm psyched we did! We were a little confused entering, as they informed us we inadvertently entered through the exit portion of the Experience. Whoops! Once we were able to find the right direction, there was nothing stopping us. This 45 minute walking journey takes you through over 6,000 Jack O'Lanterns, a corn maze and more. It was so much fun getting to experience Skylands Stadium outside of the baseball stadium I know so well. They had a ton of fun new decorated pumpkins, along with all of the classics. Frankenstein was well represented, along with Marvel Superheroes as well. I was very happy to see BATMAN! I joked it's like they knew I was coming, saving Batman for last at the end of their Marvel section. We had a wonderful time at Skylands Stadium Friday night. We still managed to get several fun photos, despite it being a challenge taking pictures and selfies in the dark.

Saturday morning I went on an errand run that was pretty successful. I hit up Sussex Meat Packing in Wantage on 23 to get a couple of NY Strip Steaks, then ShopRite Of Sussex, dropped and picked up my dry cleaning, and got bacon and egg sandwiches from Hamburg Hot Bagel. This was a very productive trek up and down 23 for me. In addition to the NY Strip Steaks, I scored on some good deals at ShopRite on snacks like buffalo wings and mozzarella sticks. Brooks was very excited and appreciative that I purchased mozzarella sticks, knowing very well that they were solely intended for her. I can do cheese on pizza, but struggle to enjoy it any other way. Even lactose intolerant people make fun of me, because they tend to like cheese too even if it hurts them.

During the past few weekend nights, Girlfriend Brooks and I have stumbled onto a show on NetFlix that has been really entertaining, to us at least. The Detroiters is a comedy series about a couple of best friends in Detroit running an advertising agency. You can see more about that by clicking here. This show had us cracking up many times over these past few weekends. Apparently it was on Comedy Central in 2017, cancelled in 2018. I can definitely see how it might not be for everyone, but we were cracking up watching it.

Saturday we spent a good chunk of quality time putting together the application for Seeing Eye Puppy Training. This application is impressive and intense, as the whole thing is 7 pages long! First Brooks had trouble on her iPhone. We then tried my laptop which I haven't really used much over these past couple of years. We learned that my laptop might be on the way out. Ah well. We then went to The Sussex County Library to print out a PDF of the application so Brooks could fill out it manually old school. We were then able to email the PDF application over to them. It's hard to believe in a month or two we might be helping out with dog sitting a future Seeing Eye Dog that could help someone so much. This is a really fun and humbling feeling.

Saturday night we then ventured over to Milano's on 94 in Vernon to see bestie Stacey for her birthday dinner. This was my first time ever in Milano's. I'm not personally into Italian food myself, but can usually find a good steak when I go to places like that. The ambiance was very nice and friendly, and my steak was terrific. Success! It was great to see Stacey and Jim, Shawn, Turner, Jim, Ruby, and other fun friends too!

Sunday morning Brooks and I did a major deep dive clean and purge at my place. I remembered talking about on the radio how Saturday was one of those national "throw out your old pills," days. I thought that was a great idea for myself to do too. I explained to Brooks there is likely so much stuff under my bathroom and kitchen sinks that is likely expired or I simply wasn't using. My suspicion was correct. We spent several hours cleaning, now my place is cleaner and more organized than ever. There's still only so much you can do at the end of the day. Brooks felt bad because I spent so much time and effort sweeping leaves off of my deck, and then a mere two or three hours later you could see leaves piling up on my previously spotless deck. Ah well. Like I said, it tis the season after all.

By 1pm I was more than ready to just relax and watch football. My Patriots took on the Cleveland Browns and won, so I was happy about that. Both of my fantasy football teams got absolutely crushed. Tomorrow we will try to fight another day.

Overall I had a great weekend! Time to start planning next weekend and it will be Epic. Friday night I'll be in Hackettstown helping hand out candy to trick or treaters, my second year doing this. Saturday night we're going to my besties Sally and Peter's Halloween Party, and I'll be dressing up in a costume for my first time in over 30 years!
