fyi, next weekend I'm planning on seeing my family in Boston. I probably won't be able to post here until Tuesday afternoon. You can always see my Epic Weekend In Pictures as it happens in real time on my Instagram Story @SteveAllanRadio. This weekend we were able to enjoy some winter fun. Friday night was a quiet night in with Girlfriend Brooks, I picked up pizza that ended up being great. I've had both hits and misses with this shop, but at least this weekend they nailed it. Saturday morning we went to Greenwood Lake to meet new friends, and their potential Seeing Eye Puppy named Bebe. This absolutely gorgeous German Shepherd puppy is friendly, smart, and athletic. We'll have to be on our toes and eat our Wheaties as they say before sitting for Bebe next month for a few days. The 30 minute ride to Greenwood Lake wasn't bad at all despite the snow. We had clear pavement for 85% of our way to Greenwood Lake, no big deal at all. We had so much fun getting to spend time with Bebe and her Seeing Eye Puppy Raiser Family. They've been doing this for many years, and I hope we can help that trend continue. It's a rewarding feeling knowing we might be able to help people down the road who need it. We had a wonderful time for just over an hour getting to know them and they getting to know us and our backgrounds too. We really feel like this will be a fun partnership. The snow had accumulated a little bit as we were leaving Greenwood Lake on our way back to Vernon, so I told Brooks we were putting my Jeep Compass in 4 Wheel Drive just to err on the side of caution. Within 5 minutes, I was very happy we did that. The roads had decreased in visibility. Traffic was going sideways swerving sometimes to the right of a lane, sometimes into the other lane. It was suddenly an intense snowstorm that nobody saw coming at all. We kept our speed down which was good. By the time we got to 94 the traffic between Warwick and Vernon was at a parked standstill. We didn't move at all in 40 minutes. Apparently there were multiple spin outs ahead of us, I sure hope those folks are okay. It was a quickly intensifying storm that turned from flurries to accumulating very fast. This was one of those storms where even if it was slightly frustrating to be in parked traffic, you felt safer by not moving and also nobody around you moving either. The 30 minute drive turned to 90 minutes! I was grateful that we were okay and safe. Once I got up my mountain at Great Gorge Village ie my Campus in Vernon, we breathed a sigh of relief.

Once we were home, I went outside to my deck for a few minutes to just take everything in and enjoy. I love watching skiers and snowboarders from my deck, and with the snow, it looked like they were all going down the mountain in a snow globe. I love all of the fun, positive energy you can feel from so many having fun on the mountain. We then were able to meet up with Jasen and Brendan so I could try Indian food for my first time. I'm a very picky, pain in the neck eater. I researched this menu for days trying to find something that was "Steve Friendly," as we call it. After researching, I landed on Garlic Shrimp. Girlfriend Brooks and I love doing Garlic Shrimp all the time, this is perfect! All along the way, Brooks, Jasen and Brendan would give me bites of their food to try. I struck out and didn't like any of them. Sometimes it was the flavor, sometimes it was the texture. My Garlic Shrimp I was able to eat though (once I scraped stuff off the top of it.) Indian food just doesn't seem to be my thing. If you do like Indian food though, I will say that Brooks, Jasen & Brendan all really liked it. I couldn't believe the great job they did with their decor. You would never know it used to be a Friendly's Restaurant - okay, other than the empty ice cream cake freeze to the left which still has those labels on it - you would never know lol.
Sunday I had fun watching my New England Patriots win their playoff game! Now people are going to keep busting on us. The New England Patriots had the easiest schedule, this is true. Of course now The Denver Broncos starting quarterback Bo Nix unfortunately broke his ankle and has to miss the game. We'll be playing their backup quarterback, Jarret Stidham who used to play for these Patriots. This should be interesting. Many of my friends have already started busting on me because we're playing a backup instead of their starter. I say to them, it's beyond our control. All we can do is win and try to beat the teams we play. Let's go Patriots!
