The study started with college students. Initially, both men and women believed women would fall in love first. Society has conditioned us to believe women fall first, but it might not be true. After results of the survey were added up, it turns out men say "I love you first." Even more important, here's why the researchers believe he really means it.
1. When it comes to reproduction women have a lot more to loose than men. They have a limited number of eggs so committing to the wrong man can have lasting consequences. So women postpone love without realizing it.
2. Another reason is that men could be predisposed to want to reproduce as much as they can. Men are more likely to get excited about a new relationship but at the same time they look around more.
I guess what we should take from all of this is men do mean it when they say "I love you" first. So ladies, if you feel like saying "I love you" first you should say it. Because he's probably feeling it too and just won't say it.
