This weekend I adopted a 13 year old cat from the Port Jervis Humane Society. Her name is Daisey and she has been at the shelter since August. Her owner passed away and 13 year old cats are very difficult to find homes for. My dog Maddie did not make her feel very welcome. Each day they are getting more accepting of each other.
Daisey has not eaten much. I've been able to give her some home made roasted chicken and some dry cat food. Each day she seems to eat a little more. She stays under my bed most of the day. Each night she comes out and sleeps by my son. She is a very friendly cat. One strange thing we've noticed is she likes to hang out and drink her water from the dogs bowl.
The other major event in my weekend was the open house at the newly expanded Sussex County Y.M.C.A. The new gymnasium was beautiful. I love the smell of the fresh wood and varnish. The turnout was fantastic. They made a great place even better.
The rest of my weekend was spent putting away the rest of the Christmas decorations and watching the ice chunks pass by in the Delaware River. As you can see the level of the river is pretty high because the ice chunks are partially blocking the river downstream.
