One of the topics on today's WSUS Morning Show is a new study that shows taking vacations can help you live longer. I can see some reasons why without even looking at the study. Vacations are great but getting ready to go on vacation just isn't fun for me anymore.
When I was in my 20's and I'd go to the Jersey Shore I would just pack a bathing suit, a few clothes and head for the parkway. These trips to the west coast are much more complicated for me. This is only the second time in 20 years I have taken a vacation that involved flying. Getting through the airport still stresses me out. This trip I'll be introducing myself to a new airport in Las Vegas.
Even before the travel stress itself there's just so much to do and remember. Your phone, laptop or tablet. I take more than one charger in case one stops working. My phone is my life blood when I travel now. I can't imagine how I traveled without one but I did.
My daughter is watching the house for me but it took days to for me get the house clean and stocked with cleaning supplies and pet food. I know she can always go to the store but I'm trying to be considerate. In between getting the house clean I was trying to pack everything. I'm just not used to it. Yesterday I mowed the lawn and cleaned the pool.
Today Steve Allan will drive me to the Willowbrook Mall. I'll get on the number 11 bus into Newark. I'll get off at Market Street and take the Go28 bus to the airport. The coolest thing about this is my trip to the airport will cost only $3.50.
Once I'm actually on the plane I should be able to relax a little. I'm really looking forward to seeing my cousins on the west coast. Last year they were so good to me and we had a great time. This year one more cousin will join us. Highlights of the trip include seeing John Williams at the Hollywood Bowl, Mets and Dodgers at Dodger Stadium and Las Vegas!
