My first southwest trip is in the books

I love to take trains and fly. It's been almost 4 years since I've flown anywhere. After having to change my plans several times the trip to Arizona to visit my cousin finally happened. I arrived Saturday afternoon and he took me to the veterans memorial at the capitol in Phoenix. It was very impressive. The memorial to World War Two veterans included guns from the Battleship Arizona and Battleship Missouri. The Arizona was bombed at Pearl Harbor at the start of the war. The deck of the Missouri is where the Japanese signed the surrender documents. On Sunday we went to the Diamondbacks vs. Giants game. The Diamondbacks won but I did get to see former Met Mike Conforto hit a home run for the Giants. The only baseball clothes I have all have Mets logos on them. To my surprise I got several fist bumps from other Mets fans at the game. One of them was from a police officer who called me over to him. I thought I was in trouble for something. He just wanted a fist pump!

On Monday we went tubing on the Salt River. The views were spectacular but I had serious trouble controlling my tube in the rapid current. It was very scary at times. I won't be doing that again. Then my cousin and I picked fresh grapefruit later in the afternoon. I ate a couple right off the tree. They were so juicy. We had a very nice dinner at a small Italian Restaurant in Phoenix.

On Tuesday we went out for breakfast and I shopped for shirts for my grand kids. I was on a plane back by 2. Shout out to United Airlines. Both flights were on time and the flight crews were great. Check out my pictures below.
