My dog Millie is much bigger than we expected. That's why I sometimes forget she is still a puppy at heart. She isn't even 2 years old yet. So I should have known not to leave my glasses on the coffee table when I went to bed. When I got up I found her chewing on the plastic frames. The expensive bi focal lenses were nearby. We're lucky she left them alone. So all I have to do is buy new frames.
The best part of my weekend was buying a new freezer for our basement. Last week I noticed our 29 year old basement refrigerator was running almost all the time. So I looked up how much electricity it was using. After doing the research I realized a new freezer would pay for itself in electric bill savings in about a year. The freezer was on sale too and gives us much more room. So I'm very happy!
This is also the only time of year to get a great deal on corned beef. So I bought an extra one for the new freezer. The other one went in the slow cooker with some beef broth for 9 hours yesterday. I added carrots and red potatoes half way through. The end result was delicious. I like my fresh warm corned beef on rye. We have plenty left over for tonight. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I have one more joy to share today. My beautiful grand daughter Charlotte turned 5 months old on Friday. My son Matt informed us that she is starting to eat some solid food. Her first meal was home made sweet potatoes.
